Literature Text

They ran in a pack, the motion seeming a blur.
Their cries resounding off the mountains.
Only one stands out from the rest.
Its black coat and golden red eyes
its black and silver wings,
Differed this bitch from the others.

She was happy to be unique,
Even if it meant easy prey.
The two leggers constantly searched her out.
The legendary lone wolf.
But her heart could not be captured.

Her freedom could not be taken,
She’d die with the pack or by herself.
But never in a two legger cage.
Her only downfall was that she fell in love,
The love that is forbidden, betwixt animal and man.

She gave her soul to a little girl,
Who lay dying because,
she accidentally came across a bear, and her cub.
The wolf felt this girl child was different,
Unique just like herself, so she knew what to do.

She raised her majestic head and howled,
The little girl screamed in pain.
Four paws traded for two,
The wolf and girl now one and the same.

The wolf now in the girl rested peacefully,
Her mind putting her to sleep.
Many years would pass before she would awaken
And discover she is not alone,

She is Otherkin
Others will welcome her
in to their pack.

For we
Are never alone,
Nor do we
Abandon
Our
Own!
Well thanks to Kitch on breaking my writers block, I wrote this poem... it feels a bit rough... but I like it anyways..

this was posted in 2004. I didn't discover therianthropy/otherkinship until I was 19 in like 2010. It's just amazing to me to think that people today complain so much that otherkin/therian are just an internet 'fad' that only popped up in the last 4-5 years or so and yet 12 years before now (2016) people were writing poetry about themselves as otherkin. I am just baffled sometimes at how ignorant modern culture can be sometimes :,) (also this is a cool poem. it tells such an interesting story)
